Ipswich Police Department to Hold Drug Take Back Day, Touch a Truck Event

The Ipswich Police Department, in collaboration with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency and community partners, will hold an event to collect prescription drugs on Saturday, April 27.

The annual Drug Take Back Day will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Middle High School. It will be combined with the annual Touch a Truck event, giving younger residents the opportunity to explore police, fire and EMS vehicles, as well as construction vehicles.

National Drug Take Back Day is a biannual, free, no-questions-asked event that gives the community the opportunity to aid in the fight against substance use disorder by disposing of potentially dangerous expired, unwanted or unused prescription drugs.

Those who cannot attend are encouraged to dispose of their unwanted medication at one of two drop boxes, in the lobby of the police station or at Town Hall outside the Council on Aging.

In the coming weeks, Ipswich Police also will be supporting the Sticker Shock Campaign, which seeks to raise public awareness of the issue of underage drinking, and the adults who provide alcohol to minors.
