UPDATE: Ipswich Police Department Charges Man in Connection with Accidental Gun Discharge

IPSWICH — Chief Paul Nikas reports that the Ipswich Police Department is charging a man in connection with the accidental discharge of a gun at a local brewery last week.

DONALD TERENZONI, AGE 35, OF NEWTON, N.H., is being charged with:

  • Carrying a Loaded Firearm Without a License
  • Carrying a Firearm Without a License
  • Discharging a Firearm Within 500 Feet of a Building
  • Possession of Ammunition Without a Firearms Identification Card
  • Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon (Three Counts)

On Friday, March 29, at approximately 5:17 p.m., Ipswich Police were called to the True North Ale brewery at 116 County Road for a report of a gunshot being fired.

Officers arrived to discover that a man, later identified as TERENZONI, accidentally discharged a gun while in the brewery’s dining area, and suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound as a result.

TERENZONI was taken to a local hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound. A juvenile in the dining area was grazed by a piece of shrapnel and transported to a local hospital as a precaution. A second individual also suffered a minor injury as a result of shrapnel but declined medical transportation.

A subsequent investigation determined that TERENZONI was not licensed to possess a firearm in Massachusetts. 

TERENZONI will be arraigned Friday in Ipswich District Court.
